Trying to live a little cleaner can feel… a lot. Whether you’re a parent, a wellness enthusiast, or just someone trying to make better choices, the amount of information out there can be overwhelming. From recipes to product swaps to self-care advice, it sometimes feels like you need a PhD (and unlimited time) to do it “right.”
That’s where practical tips come in.
For me, clean living isn’t about doing everything, it’s really just about doing what’s realistic enough to actually stick. Small changes really can make a big difference. That’s exactly how my very official mantra came to be after a casual conversation with my husband one day: going granola without going nuts.
If you’re looking for easy places to start, here are a few of my favorites:
Groceries & Meal Planning
Start where most of us feel it the most - our food.
Meal kits or grocery services that make healthier choices easier (Hungryroot, Green Chef, Misfits Market, Fresh Harvest, HelloFresh)
Focus on whole, less-processed foods when possible
Simple meal planning so you’re not making decisions while hangry (I love slow-cooker meals and share some of my fav recipes on the recipes page)
Easy snacks on hand to avoid the “whatever’s fastest” spiral - my kids love smoothies and I will never complain about the good foods you can hide in a smoothie!
Household Products
What we use in our homes matters, too.
Swap in non-toxic cleaning products as you run out of old ones
Choose natural personal care products when possible
Try eco-friendly home goods that are safe and effective
Switch from chemical treated paper products to reusable cotton kitchen cloths to clean counters, napkins, and hand towels
DIY solutions to clean - I personally love white vinegar with a mint or lavender essential oil for scent
(No pressure to replace everything at once — progress > perfection.)
Mind + Body
You matter in this equation, too.
Gentle movement that fits into real life
Simple mindfulness practices (nothing fancy required)
Sleep routines that help everyone wind down
Tech-free times in the home, so you can connect as a family
Giving yourself permission to rest, reset, and ask for support
Clean living doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing or totally overwhelming. By making small, intentional changes to what we eat, what we use, and how we care for ourselves, we can create a healthier, calmer home over time.
Remember: it’s not about doing it perfectly — it’s about doing what works for your family and moving in the right direction.
And yes… without going nuts
