Dyscalculia Resource Hub (A Work in Progress)

One thing I quickly learned on this journey is how limited the resources around dyscalculia still are. Compared to dyslexia, information can be surprisingly hard to find—and often scattered. This is a space I’ll continue to build thoughtfully over time, sharing tools, insights, and supports that have been helpful for our family.

For now, here are a few starting points:

  • Full Psychoeducational (Psych/Ed) Taking the step to pursue a comprehensive psych/ED evaluation was one of the most helpful decisions we made. It gave us clear insight into how our child’s brain works, identified both strengths and challenges, and provided the language and documentation we needed to advocate effectively at school. More than anything, it helped us stop guessing and start supporting with confidence.

  • Orton–Gillingham–informed approaches While traditionally associated with dyslexia, OG-based strategies (structured, sequential, multi-sensory learning with lots of repetition) have been supportive for our child especially in highly structured environments.

  • School environment matters Finding a school that understands learning differences and values repetition, mastery, and structure was the single biggest game changer for our family.

  • Strengths-based reframing Dyscalculia doesn’t define intelligence. Many kids with dyscalculia thrive in areas like design, building, creativity, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving. We focus heavily on protecting confidence while supporting growth.

I’ll continue adding resources, recommended reading, and practical tools as we learn more and as this space grows.

Let’s Connect

If you’re navigating dyscalculia, ADHD, or learning differences in your own family and want to connect, ask a question, or simply share your story—I’d love to hear from you. Parenting in this space can feel isolating, and sometimes it helps just knowing someone else gets it.

You’re not alone in this. And if you’re here reading this, trust that your instincts matter and your advocacy makes a difference.
